Are we ready for Ramadan?
Are we looking forward to it? The fasting, night prayers and recitation of the Qur’an?
Or are we lazy and worrying about the heat and the long hours of fast?
Read Allah’s words when he says;
And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it [some] preparation. But Allah disliked their being sent, so He kept them back, and they were told, “Remain [behind] with those who remain.”
These ayahs were revealed due to the hypocrites asking permission to stay when the believers were getting ready to fight the disbelievers.
But when we reflect on the ayah, it can be applied to us being prepared for Ramadan.
No, not the food.
Us. Our inner self. Our heart.
Are our hearts clean of all malice and hatred?
Have we forgiven those who have wronged us?
Have we made sure that our parents are happy with us?
Are our hearts clean enough so as the words of Allah can penetrate deep into our hearts and we change?
What is entering upon us is the month of Ramadan, the month in which the Qur’an was revealed.
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.”
‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affan رضي الله عنه said;
“If your hearts were pure then you wouldn’t have had enough of the words of your Lord.”
So think again;
Are we really ready for Ramadan?
If not, let’s get ready now, it’s never too late!
May Allah grant us the tawfeeq to make full use of this blessed month and not make us among those who witness the month and are not forgiven. Ameen ♡
