After his arrival in Madinah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) attended first and foremost to the construction of the Masjid. It was the very site where his camel knelt down. The land belonged to two orphans, it was purchased from them and the Masjid built by using bricks and stones. The Qibla (where the Muslims turn their faces to pray) at the moment was towards Jerusalem. The area was in square form each side measuring approximately about 100 yards. To the north of the Masjid, a place was reserved for the Muslims who had neither family nor home. Continue reading
