The Fault in Us

When we hear music is haram, mixing of genders is a serious problem, Hijab isnt just the wearing a headscarf its actually dressing modestly and includes covering the face, fake eyelashes are not allowed and so on, we go like why is everything haram in Islam, why are they so many restrictions? We have to leave everything to be pious?

But the sad truth is that it’s us who have been living the wrong way,
It’s us who have neglected the Quran,
It’s us who have never bothered to learn the way of our Prophet
It’s us who have always thought following everything other than the Sunnah was cooler
It’s us who have adapted the wrong way and was blinded from the truth and thus everything which was against the Quran and Sunnah seemed perfectly normal to us and now when we get to know the teachings of Islam we think negatively.
If we think for a second, everything that Allah سبحانه و تعالى has commanded us to do or prohibited from doing is for a reason and our own betterment, He the One who has created us, knows whats better than us and even if we don’t understand a reason behind a command, we are not suppose to question it instead obey it because a Muslim is the one who submits to the will of His Lord.
Read the Quran and see how Allah سبحانه و تعالى has perfectly given out rulings to deal with our daily life problems, how He سبحان تعالى is warning us from the torment ahead, how He سبحان تعالى is calling us to His Paradise, how He سبحانه و تعالى comforts us, how He سبحانه و تعالى guides us in every small step and see His love for us.
 Understand this beautiful religion.
Follow it with pride.
Prefer its teaching over the worldwide trends.
It’s the only way to attain Allah’s Pleasure.
It’s the perfect peaceful religion for mankind to be followed for a harmonious life.
Be proud to be a Muslim.

Ever since I was a child I used to think how god decided to give me certain things that others were deprived of or certain things I could never have whilst others took it for granted? And if He is All-Giving, why doesn’t He give each one of us what we desire? I hear stories of people who give up everything, friends, family, and loved ones to solely focus on their goals. Madly driven by wealth and greed, they work day and night only to find that they have lost everything during that time to gain NOTHING.Eventually I realized I have been looking at the problem in a completely different scenario when I came across this peculiar ayah:
(You are the best people raised for the good of mankind; you enjoin what is good and forbid evil and believe in Allah) (3:111)

Here it is explicitly explained that we become the best of people as long as we remain service minded, promote good and welfare of society. For this Ummah good lies in the practice of selflessness. For Muslims helping others is not an extra-curricular activity but has been made obligatory as can be understood by the hadith:

The prophet (pbuh) said:

(One who is not grateful to mankind is not grateful to Allah)

We need to get rid of our egocentric mindsets and the passion to earn more and more money to lead luxurious lives. This disease can only be cured by helping others and trust me when I say our hearts then will be content with what Allah has given us, we can all see but only a few can observe.

(Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.)

Allah doesn’t burden anyone of us with what we can’t do. He doesn’t want that we give up ourselves for humanitarianism but rather He judges us equally based on our intentions and efforts. This reminds me and I feel privileged to mention that my cousin has started educating poor kids who live across our home in the community garden. Their father being a local guard at the park has been provided with a small cottage within the premises. These kids come over every evening for an hour. My cousin teaches them to read and write, she is neither a philanthropists nor a millionaire but an ordinary student who has devoted herself to do well with sincerity for the community.

What we need is people like these who participate in social welfare, instead of being shallow or materialistic they choose to give expecting nothing in return. If each one of us takes this initiative of educating an underprivileged child our communities can improve tremendously resulting in an overall stabilized structure.

Altruism is the essence of Islam. Allah has provided some of us with loads and some of us with barely enough to keep the wolf out of the door. These very differences are what leads to a caring and responsible society. They bond us together such that helping others enables us to fulfill our goals from where the mind cannot perceive. We keep asking for the mercy of Allah, for miracles to happen, why can’t we try to become miracles for others? Because in this way we provide ourselves with a better possibility of receiving those blessings.

Sometimes I feel that life is simply more than a test, that we are all connected to each other somehow and after spending sometimes with those kids my cousin teaches I brought myself to believe that it is in these little acts of kindness that we find the wealthiest of smiles and the promises that future brings.

Forgotten Blessings.

A few days ago I read something a sheikh had posted that really touched my heart, he said life would be very easy if we understand that we wont get everything we want in this world, we should be thankful with what we have, be content and enjoy the existing blessings. They are so many people praying to get what we want yet we take them for granted and keep winning over what we dont have.

This really got to me and made me at ease realizing we are blessed with so many things and many of them are gifted without even asking!

So this post is a short reminder to be thankful for all the little things we overlook, the ones we fail to relaize and forget to thank Allah for.

Thank Allah for the lovely gift of Islam which made life so peaceful and easy.

For accepting our good deeds.

For forgiving our sins.

For the ease after difficulties.

For the cure after sickness.

For all the answered prayers and fulfilled wishes.

For the happiness after sadness.

For the success after failure.

For being free of physical disabilities.

For having delicious meals 3 times a day.

For the air-conditioned house and the cozy bed you sleep in.

For the safe neighborhood you live in.

For the parents who love you

For the brother who cares for you.

For the sister that supports you.

For the friend who guides you.

And for all the countless things that makes your life beautiful.

And just remember, He gave you so many things without asking, what makes you think He wont give you what you asked Him for? 🙂

He swt says:

[And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]]

Thank you Allah for everything ♥

Fruits of Faith

Allah swt has said:

يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله

O you who have believed, fear Allah  [2:227]

So what is Taqwa?
Sheikh Bin Baz ( May Allah swt have mercy on him) has said:
Taqwa is the obedience of Allah and His Messenger PBUH and leaving what they have prohibited sincerely for the Sake of Allah swt with a true belief in  Him and His Messenger PBUH and what they have said and to earn the reward Allah has promised and be saved from His Punishment.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. [3:102]
Ibn Masood(May Allah be pleased with him) had said in the Tafseer of the above verse:
That the servant obeys and not disobeys, he remembers and not forgets, he  thanks and does not be ungrateful.
Taqwa is so be alert.
It is to be fearful.
It is to ponder on every step we take whether this is action will please Allah swt or displease Him.
The promise of Allah for the Mutaqeen ( those who have Taqwa):
1. Love of Allah swt.
But yes, whoever fulfills his commitment and fears Allah – then indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him. [3:76]
2. Allah’s Mercy in this life and the next.
And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You.” [ Allah ] said, “My punishment – I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things.” So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses – [7:156]
3.  Allah’s help, victory and support.
Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good. [16:28]
4. Protection from everything that is evil and is feared in this world and the hereafter.
And Allah will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve. [39:61]
5. Lightening of the heart.
O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. [57:28]
6. Gives the servant predominance over Shaitaan.
Indeed, those who fear Allah – when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight. [7:201]
7. A way to get greater rewards.
And if you believe and fear Him, then for you is a great reward. [3.179]
8. Expansion of provision and more goodness.
And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect..[65:2-3]
9. Allah will relieve their stresses and make things ease for them.
And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him of his matter ease.[65:4]
10.  Victory over enemies and protection against them.
And if you are patient and fear Allah , their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do. [3:120]
11. Attain closeness to Allah swt.
Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted..[49:13]
12. Allah will save them on the Day of Judgement.
Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.[19:72]
13. Allah makes attaining knowledge easy for them.
And fear Allah . And Allah teaches you. And Allah is Knowing of all things.[2: 282]
14. The reward of Taqwa is Paradise.

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure. [68:34]
May Allah swt make us from these people. Ameen

But He is The Forgiver and The Most Merciful..

I have often heard and seen people, doing what they want, not following the commandments of Allah SWT while knowing it or following only those which are easy and feasible to them and when they are reminded and advised they say, ‘ Allah is AlGafoor and Ar Raheem.”

Well yes Allah swt is surely Al-Gafoor (الغفور The Forgiver and Hider of Faults ) and Ar-Raheem ( الرحيمThe Merciful), in fact He SWT is also Al-Lateef ( اللطيف The Most Gentle),

Al-Ghaffar ( الغفار The Great Forgiver),

Ar-Raoof ( الرؤوف The Compaasionate),

Al-Afuwwu ( The Forgiver),

Al-Tawaab (التواب The Guide to Repentance)

BUT He is also;

Severe in penalty (شديد العقاب)

The Owner of Retribution (ذو انتقام)

He is swift in account (سريع الحساب)

if this was the case, then why has Allah swt defined whats Halal or Haram, why is there Paradise and Hell-fire? We could all do whatever we like and still be forgiven!

It’s your deeds that will determine how you will be dealt in the hereafter.

There is no doubt that Allah loves to forgive his servants and accepts repentance but that doesn’t mean we live how we want, do whatever we want and then expect to be forgiven anyways. It’s a 2 way deal not one-sided.

You ask Him, He gives you.

You thank Him, He gives you more.

You remember Him, He remembers you.

You ask for forgiveness, He forgives you.

We cant just keep fooling ourselves. We need to realize and work for His Paradise.
